The show didn’t even start and I was already soaking wet. Wet from standing in the rain that is [unfortunately]. A line was forming outside the Sugarfactory by a couple of die-heart-jay-fans. Sadly, I was one of them. I was determined to stand right in front of him when he took the stage and more than willing to knock some queers down to get there.
It all started after seeing his wonderful performance in ‘Shortbus’. He proved to be an artist that knows how to handle an instrument. He can even play the guitar! After months of obsessively watching his videos on youtube a venue was finally announced in Amsterdam and I got tickets to admire the man with the biggest, most beautiful, pink heart.
Jay Brannan was walking amongst the crowd, ordering drinks at the bar. Nobody seemed to notice him. I can’t blame them though. He kind of looked like something the cat dragged in. He wore a scarf, some glasses. He looked nothing like the sexy artist from the net…but I never judge a book by its cover. So I went over and handed him some ‘stroopwafels’ he requested on twitter. Jay is the sweetest person ever. I just wanted to kiss him!
The concert was absolutely enticing! His voice was angelic, his look was flawless. Although, I expected him to be like a true diva and at least change his outfit once. He could have used it, for he was sweating like a pig. Nevertheless, he was a hunk. If I had the energy [and guts], I would have jumped him right then and there.
Is Jay Brannan a true artist? He is gifted with the voice of a hummingbird that is for sure, but he lacks skills on the guitar. He kept looking on a piece of paper on which chord to start and it was kind of frustrating. It’s called practice, they say it makes perfect! So next time Jay, I want you to blow me out of my socks. By singing or rehearsing a take from Shortbus.
